<div class="swpf-core"> <p>The @Compendium[swade-core-rules.swade-skills.Healing]{Healing} skill is used to remove @UUID[Compendium.swade-core-rules.swade-rules.swadecor03rules0.JournalEntryPage.03damageeffect00]{Wounds}. Each attempt requires 10 minutes per wound level of the patient. Subtract 1 from Healing rolls without a basic First Aid kit or similar supplies.</p> <p>A success removes one Wound, and a @UUID[Compendium.swade-core-rules.swade-rules.swadecor03rules0.JournalEntryPage.03traitrolls0000]{raise} removes two. Failure means no Wounds are removed. A @UUID[Compendium.swade-core-rules.swade-rules.swadecor03rules0.JournalEntryPage.03traitrolls0000]{Critical Failure} <em>increases</em> the victim’s Wound level by one.</p> <aside class="the-golden-hour"> <h2>The Golden Hour</h2> <p>Patients who survive their initial trauma have about an hour to survive most life-threatening injuries. If they receive medical attention during that time, they can generally be saved. The longer the wait, however, the more likely the @UUID[Compendium.swade-core-rules.swade-rules.swadecor03rules0.JournalEntryPage.03damageeffect00]{Wounds} are to be fatal.</p> <p>In <cite>Savage Worlds</cite>, we extend this concept to healing in general. Besides reflecting the real-world concept, it also provides good game balance and drama as the party has to decide whether to press on despite their injuries.</p> </aside> <p><strong>The Golden Hour: </strong>A character may only attempt to heal @UUID[Compendium.swade-core-rules.swade-rules.swadecor03rules0.JournalEntryPage.03damageeffect00]{Wounds} on a patient once within the hour they were sustained. Failing the roll means the healer isn’t able to treat those particular injuries. A <em>different</em> character may attempt a @Compendium[swade-core-rules.swade-skills.Healing]{Healing} roll on the same patient, however.</p> <p>Once the @UUID[Compendium.swade-core-rules.swade-rules.swadecor03rules0.JournalEntryPage.03damageeffect00]{Wounds} are over an hour old, only natural healing or the <em>@Compendium[swade-core-rules.swade-powers.Healing]{healing}</em> power (using <em>greater healing</em>) can heal Wounds.</p> <p><strong>Bleeding Out: </strong>The @Compendium[swade-core-rules.swade-skills.Healing]{Healing} skill can also be used to stabilize someone who’s <strong>@UUID[Compendium.swade-core-rules.swade-rules.swadecor03rules0.JournalEntryPage.03damageeffect00]{Bleeding Out}</strong>. Each attempt is an @UUID[Compendium.swade-core-rules.swade-rules.swadecor03rules0.JournalEntryPage.03actions0000000]{action}, and if successful the victim is stabilized.</p> <p><strong>Incapacitation: </strong>Healing at least one @UUID[Compendium.swade-core-rules.swade-rules.swadecor03rules0.JournalEntryPage.03damageeffect00]{Wound} on an @UUID[Compendium.swade-core-rules.swade-rules.swadecor03rules0.JournalEntryPage.03damageeffect00]{Incapacitated} patient removes that state (and restores consciousness if he was knocked out).</p> </div>

As a limited free action, a barbarian may “rage” voluntarily. If she’s Shaken or Wounded, she must make a Smarts roll or rage whether she wants to or not.<br/>Rage lasts five rounds. If the attacker is successful he pushes the foe back up to 1″ (two yards). With a raise, increase the distance to 2″ (four yards).
